DEEP, TECH & MINIMAL SOUNDS from Berlin, Detroit and beyond..
Before wetting your appetite with the impressive resumes of these events’ dishes, a word of appreciation for the institution 'The Origin' for rejuvenating the dance scene in Durban. This outstanding club has put electronic music back on the menu for the audibly malnutritioned with a thirst for a beat and has created a platform with which outside promoters can work to bring you special events like this.. and many more.
EMERSON TODD
Our featured international artist, Emerson Todd (hailing from New Zealand and raised in Australia) has enjoyed tremendous success on both sides of the Tasman and is easily the most successful DJ/Producer to come out of both countries.
In 1998 he met Christiaan Ercolano and formed House of Downtown. The pair was snapped up by Universal Music offering them their own label to run and release on. They also produced the complete movie score for UK Company 'Film Four' (of ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ fame) for the movie ‘Stickmen’.
Having now worked for both major and independent labels locally and internationally, under aliases, in groups, and producing and engineering for many world-class acts, Emerson has finally stepped out from behind the desk. From his early productions on Darren Emerson’s Underwater imprint, to becoming one of the latest signings on Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird label and Sven Väth’s Cocoon Label and with a lot of hype about his remix for Layo & Bushwaka! due out on their Olmeto label, it is clear Emerson Todd is breaking out in a big way!!

KILLER ROBOT
And featured local outfit, Killer Robot, recognised by 'Mixmag' and Germany's 'Groove' magazine as South Africa's premiere showcase of underground minimal and techno. South Africa's longest running techno night, Killer Robot continues to bring unrivalled quality to committed dancefloors every week. With each installment a different journey; from dubbed out deepness to the hi-tech sounds of Detroit, Berlin and beyond.
Killer Robot has hosted more top international artists than any other night of its kind in SA including: Konrad Black (Wagon Repair/M_Nus), Alex Smoke (Soma/Vakant/Hum&Haw), Bodycode (Perlon/Ghostly/Sud Electronic), Butane (Alphahouse/Dumb Unit), Jeremy P Caulfield (Dumb Unit/Trapez), Seth Troxler (Crosstown Rebels), Ryan Crosson (M_Nus/Wagon Repair), Ectomorph (Interdimensional Transmissions), DJ Naughty (Gigolos), Geo (Kompakt), Julius Steinhoff (Smallville), James Kumo (Kumomusic UK) & Ziggy Kinder (Ware/Souvenir). Killer Robot has also played in support of artists including James Lavelle, Lee Burridge, Steve Bug, Âme, Guido Schneider, Luciano, Dubfire and Sasha.
In 2009 KR residents (Ivan Turanjanin and Bruno Morphet) made their contribution to the global scene. After traveling to both Sonar and the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Ivan made the trip to Glasgow to support none other than techno legend Kevin Saunderson while Bruno Morphet toured Germany, playing gigs in Berlin with Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson and Shaun Reeves and in Leipzig with Christian Fischer at the legendary Distillery.
