LUNA PAIGE & BAND @ HIGHFIELD HOUSE, PERFORMING SONGS FROM HER LATEST
ALBUM, WONDERFUL LIFE!

This independent artist is known as one of those South African gems
that’s been working and performing on the periphery of the industry and
slowly but surely stealing the hearts of SA music lovers. Music lovers have
come to respect this artist over the last decade and have curiously been
following her career, anxious to witness the moment this artist reaches her
full potential. The moment has arrived: with the launch of Luna’s third
and self-produced album – Wonderful life!

“Won’t be leaving you behind” has been play listed on numerous radio
stations and climbed the charts on Bloemfontein’s OFM. Rock ballad
“Addicted” was chosen as one of the tracks on Splashy Fen’s 20 year
compilation album (which was released in May 2009). Luna’s activist song
“New Love”, which acts as the theme song of her non-profit
organization, the New Love Foundation – ensured her interviews on both
SABC 2 (Artcha) and SABC 3 (The power within) for being an inspirational
artist making a difference in her community. “Restless soul”, a
beautiful rock ballad, charted on various campus radio stations and
subsequently reached Nr 3 on MK 89 SA top 5 charts (Nov ’09). Further
more, Luna’s interesting collaboration with Chris Chameleon in “Sunday
in Japan” created much excitement. This song circulated on SA’s
MP3.com. And last but not least – this album is host to a fun,
tongue-in-the-cheek duet with blues man, Gerald Clark. This collaboration
is especially appreciated by blues lovers (visit Luna’s Facebook page or
website to view this music video).

What’s memorable about Luna’s performance is her sultry voice and her
mesmerising way of luring the listener into a world of beautiful images,
stories and emotions. Further more, her experienced and talented band
enhance these qualities and ensures a live music experience that guarantees
pleasure, goose bumps and some pretty funky grooves. Who are these
musicians?

Schalk Joubert (bassist, composer and producer) creates the most beautiful
atmospheric sounds on the one hand and on the other can create hypnotic
rhythms to such an extent that you don’t even miss the drums. He has been
hand-picked by international singer/songwriter Michelle Shocked to travel
and perform with her on her tours in the USA and Europe. He has also
recorded, produced and released his own album, Khayamandi, which got
nominated for two SAMA awards.

Willem Moller is one of SA’s famous guitarists and is known especially
for his involvement as guitar player in the SA Voëlvry movement. He is an
amazing guitarist who plays with such ease and happiness that he steals the
show without ever intending to. He has been around the block, has been
making music, producing and arranging music for bands and artists like
Wendy Oldfield and Big Sky and has even worked with Rodriguez. Willem adds
tremendous value to the sound of Luna’s music.

On drums is Kevin Gibson…an inspiration to many drummers throughout South
Africa. Kevin is an astounding Jazz drummer who can play all genres with
ease. His drumming has taken him on musical journeys to Cuba, Russia, the
USA, Europe and the UK. He has played with and for so many great artists
such as Johnny Clegg, Jackson Browne and Winston Mankunku to name but a
few.

This team will be performing songs from Luna’s new album. Come listen,
experience and witness this versatile artist who can write and perform
songs in various genres, and proved with this album that she is a
songwriter to be reckoned with, that she grows and develops with every
music project that she tackles and that independent artists can produce
music of high quality and achieve success –perhaps at a slower rate –
but nevertheless.
