Keira Witherkay is one of the most impressive, and soon to be, one of the most influential acoustic musicians of our time. With a Jazz guitar background on acoustic, bass and double bass, Keira has taken the fundamentals and soul of jazz and combined it passionately with the zest and spirit of world music to create something never before seen on South African Stages. When watching Keira play I often think back to my days as chef, in the sense that she combines her notes and chords in the same way as I would cook speciality dishes or create new desserts… sometimes by the self created recipe and often with spontaneous changes, but always with verve and pizzazz.

I have seen well known and great guitarist humbled in her presence by her absolute love for what she does and conviction in her passion for the strings she seduces into making the sounds that invokes awe in us all.

Every Weds Night Keira host an event at Jonathan's in Buccleuch, where she invites acoustic musicians to join her and share thier love for music, be if vocal and/or strings. This is a breath taking event that will leave all musicians and spectators gasping for more.
