Gently Scar’d is an acoustic rock outfit exploding with inexplicable creativity. The band has been gigging since early 2005 and has since managed to etch a regular spot in the touring circuit of South Africa. The music fluctuates between soft & lyrical and edgy & ruthless with rhythmic, melodic tunes perched comfortably in the middle. Their live act famously features a percussion interlude which is always guaranteed to rev the crowd up! The band includes the alluring Carice Goossens on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, who is also responsible for the songwriting, Jacques Cronje on drums and backing vox, Anthony Koopman on bass and Friso Woudstra on lead guitar & guitarist Devlon Horne. In 2006 Gently Scar’d took to the road with acclaimed South African Blues guitarist Dan Patlansky. The pack of musicians performed at various venues through KwaZulu-Natal to very enthused fans and was very well received on the tour. They have also shared the stage with the Springbok Nude Girls, Prime Circle, The Parlotones, Jo Day, Fahrenheit, Adrian Shannon, Garth Taylor and Arno Carstens’ New Porn. Gently Scar’d’s debut album “no pink flowers” was produced by the legendary South African producer, Dave Birch, who has also produced bands such as Perez, Sunways, Finkelstiens, The Parlotones and Love Jones amongst others. He was also the front man for 90s South African Rock cornerstone band Squeal. Birch has added a new dimension to the music and has taken the band to the next level in their creativeness which has influenced their increasingly popular live performance.
